Paris Regrets” might have been a tragedy but it was completely and utterly my best piece that I have written throughout the entire year. My story was a fiction story, and I had to learn to think like a fiction writer at it’s best.

To become a successful fiction writer we had to go through almost a boot camp. There were a lot of important tasks that needed to be accomplished before we could even start writing our pieces. To ask, “What books do I wish existed in the world?” is what lead to inventing Holly Starz, a character that has traits, struggles, and actions thought my piece. We had to write about an issue that is important to us. For me it was losing someone; your best friend but was slipping out of your hands, and then based off of that we had to create a character who struggled with this issue.

My character was based on one of my best friends and I guess that when you are writing a story that is what most people do. RIGHT?? Anyway during boot camp we also had to know our character’s motivations (longings) and struggles. To me one of the most important things to know about being a fiction writer would be to create the character’s internal and external traits, using traits that would be important to you and to your audience so that you can they won’t loose interest and also to let them be able to relate to your main character. Another thing that is big for fiction writers would be to use a story map to outline your main idea or topic.

When writing a fiction story you must start with the character and setting. What I mean by that is to make sure that the readers can picture the setting and have a movie run through their mind throughout the entire piece. You will also have to clearly state to the reader what the character wants, and what obstacles stand in the way. If you want to become a fiction writer remember to include dialog that slows the reader to see what the characters are doing, write events with small moment after small moment so it leader to the climax, and lastly at the end you would want to resolve the story or problem that the main character has so that there are no loose ends.

I believe that the thing that I wrote the best was explaining what was happening in my story. For example, when my character Holly Starz was waking up in the morning I believe that I told every detail that you could about waking up. To write like a fiction writer would be and is very hard. Having a similie in my piece also is an advantage that I have. Over all in that category I assume that I have done very well and will continue to progress.

The thing that I have to work on the most would be my editing skills. They were not that bad in this piece but in my previous pieces I have lacked that skill. To include run ons, missed spelled words, and over wording my piece is the worst. This was my weakest skill even though I think that I did well for my first really long fiction story.
